Purpose of Position

The job holder is expected to support and assist the EDG Economist in designing and implementing monitoring and evaluation and research activities to further the mission and achieve the organizational goals of the Effective Development Group (EDG).

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Primary responsibilities will revolve around research & consultancy initiatives focussed on aid effectiveness and effective development assurance.

    Support and undertake internal and primary research assignments for EDG/GRM/Futures, including operational research into all business practices and publish findings;
    Work with EDG Economist to map effectiveness indicators in relation to the Millennium development goals, the post 2015 development agenda as well as key donor strategic goals;
    Support and write technical papers and guidance notes on key thematic areas;
    Conduct and participate in internal consultancy assignments undertaken by EDG.
    Assist in developing standardised methodologies and tools in the areas of planning, monitoring and evaluation for development interventions with an aim to publish findings;
    Support planning, monitoring and evaluation activities on GRM/Futures and EDG contracts;
    Assist in conceptualizing and writing programme and evaluation designs and methodologies to support the business development process;
    Participates on bids as an adviser as selected and accepted by the client.
    Undertake Development audits;
    Assist in organising EDG Conferences, workshops and seminars;
    Coordinate and act as secretariat for the EDI Technical Working Group (TWG.)

Minimum education and experience required

    Relevant bachelor's degree; master's degree (preferred)
    Total minimum of 3 years relevant work experience on development projects
    Knowledge and experience of M&E
    Excellent research, analytical and writing skills
    Ability to conceptualize and write a bid proposal or project report
    Sound business development and Client Relationship Management skills
    Financial acumen and the ability to interpret and analyse financial reports

This role is suited for candidates based in Brisbane and will not attract mobilisation/relocation assistance. Applicants must have eligibility to work and live in Australia.
